New Year New start, cleaning diary of cleaning tips

Cleaning Tips

It's a New Year and still not too late to make a new start!
Today we are looking at the kitchen and here are some tips so you can enjoy a fresh clean kitchen.
  1. Look around the worktops, how much is there that doesn't belong in the kitchen?
  2. Look in the cupboards are they overflowing and lost their way?
  3. Plates with chips, cutlery overflowing?
Does this seem familiar!  If it does don't despair we are here to get you on track to a clean fresh kitchen.

Clearing the kitchen:
  1. Clear off all the kitchen worktops, put any paperwork into a pile then in a box for sorting.  Yes sometimes kitchens can look like a home office! School letters, post, junk mail you name it.
  2. Now that's done look at what is left and remove it to the floor and scrub those worktops thoroughly using only the right solution for your surface and taking special care if its wood.
  3. Next get 3 boxes and label as follows (a) charity (b) keep (c) bin
  4. Sort out all the cutlery, china, glass and bowls and decide what has had it's day and can be thrown away and what you don't use - take it to charity as there will be someone that may need it more than you and then decide what items you really do want to keep.
  5. If those boxes are full, label some more and get ready for more action!!
  6. The dreaded food store, look for products that you no longer use, throw anything out of date in the bin. Have a shopping list nearby and write down anything that you think know you will need and enjoy.  By now I should think a lot of your cupboards are clearer.
Replace the things that you only want to keep.

  1. Be firm and stay firm, if you find it hard to part with something but think you don't really need it then get a helping hand of encouragement.  Believe me when it's gone you will forget all about it.
  2. Anything that is really good but you know you don't use and it can go try and see if you can sell it maybe a car boot sale, after the sale anything you don't sell make sure you take it straight to the charity shop or it will end up back where you started!
  3. Now clean all those cupboards with an appropriate cleaning solution and sanitise, wait until dry and then carefully reorganise your things and replace.
I will be following this with some more great ideas, watch this space!!

Truckmount carpet cleaning system

Devon carpet cleaning using a truckmount carpet cleaning system.

There are carpet cleaning machines and then there are carpet cleaning machines!  There are elite machines in the market place and then less powerful models.  Well I'm not going to hand you the answer but I will say if you contact us you will not be disappointed.

A truckmount carpet cleaning machine is a great purchase and we would certainly recommend this system for cleaning your carpets. If you haven't had a professional company clean your carpets in the past then this method of hot water extraction will not disappoint!

You may get the odd comment saying differently but this will generally be from a carpet cleaning company that does not own such an expensive fabulous piece of equipment and would only wish they could (bearing in mind the massive price tag!)  Oh yes, they say pay more and you get the best, well in this case it certainly is true!

Customers not only enjoy a fabulous carpet cleaning service but they do not pay for water especially if they are on a water meter and they do not pay for the electricity that a portable machine requires.  A truckmount carpet cleaning machine is self contained using its own water and fuel.  Clients now we are talking exceptional value for money!!!

Naturally our fully trained carpet cleaning technician and excellent product range and stain removal systems all add to the exceptional client experience.

Portable carpet cleaning machines naturally have their place in the market and without a portable carpet cleaning system there are times when we would find work impossible.  Flexibility is needed at all times and Martins Cleaning Services Ltd provide the flexibility of a portable carpet cleaning and truckmount carpet cleaning experience.  The power of these machines is different however there are times when a portable is needed in small areas or difficult locations where a truckmount system would be unable to reach.

Whatever carpet cleaning experience we provide our customers, they are always delighted with our professional company and service received.

Choose local and reliable carpet cleaning company

I came across a January  2011 blog entry.

Readers here are some facts about carpet cleaners -
First and foremost carpet cleaning machines are left outside of the property therefore they do not leak onto carpets causing damage.

Truckmount carpet cleaning is run from a vehicle, water is held in a tank and controlled by wands, water is self contained within the tank and therefore parked away from a residential home or commercial building.
The pictures in the said blog are of underlay, the carpet already been taken up from the wet floor. It is apparent that this is underlay due to the numbers on the material and also evidence that the carpet has been pulled back from the flooring.

The damage appears apparent to flood damage of some description and therefore the client would be wise to call a professional fire and flood restoration company in order to ascertain the position fully; there are many qualified fire and flood technicians available on the NCCA website qualified for this task.
Had a client experienced flood damage their position would usually be to contact their insurance company first and foremost.
Had another company cleaned this carpet it is unlikely that they would leave a client with flood damage.

It would be normal to arrange for the client to contact their insurance company; must professional carpet cleaning companies and we are one are fully insured for any liability.

We would never leave a client in this position and we certainly would rectify any problem that may arise at anytime.
Martins cleaning services Ltd are fully insured and have no claims to date.  We are proud of our workmanship providing excellent carpet cleaning services in Exeter and throughout Devon.

We are fully accredited to valuable organisations that train carpet cleaners fully in all aspects of carpet, upholstery, rug cleaning.  The NCCA are highly regarded within the industry.

Berber, sisal and seagrass carpets

We have spoken about carpet cleaning and the benefits of carpet cleaning on numerous occasions.
There are many different carpets and here I would like to mention a few.
Berber carpet:
Berber represents a carpet that is woven in a particular way.  Berber was made by Africans in North Africa, the handmade cloth was spun for a North African tribe.
Modern berber carpet is made with a range of materials, sometimes with wool.
Berber is thick and the texture durable.
One of the downsides with berber is the ability to clean due to the way the fibres are formed together.

Sisal and seagrass:
Often sisal and seagrass needs little attention as vacuuming will remove most dirt within the natural fibres.  Spills: Blot any spills immediately; general this will be the most effective method.

Upholstery cleaning:  There are many fine fabrics and materials covering your upholstery.  Each fabric may require a different cleaning approach.  Dylon, leather, suede for example should not be wet cleaned.

It is really important that you contact a company that understands all the appropriate cleaning methods, Martin at Martins cleaning will know the correct way to clean carpets and upholstery and is available to provide advice to our customers new and old.

There is much information about the various carpets and fibres which we intend to speak about in more detail within our blogs.

Carpet cleaning Scams

Classic carpet cleaning scam.

Beware of carpet cleaning scams, the customer can be lured in by a ridiculously low priced carpet clean.

Often the company or individual will offer carpet cleaning at a very low price (in the region of £10 per room or thereabouts). This you may think seems a great idea and a great price - beware!!!  They now have the tools to enter your home and lure you into their scam!

Such sales often start on the telephone and you feel you have a deal.  Make sure you request a written quotation at all times and a pre-inspection of your carpets and upholstery.

It would be almost impossible for a genuine company to gain a profitable sale at that low price. Remember carpet cleaning overheads far exceed this let alone the fuel to get to you!

Some companies usually have no intention of leaving your home with only the advertised amount. So how do they increase the bill after you have taken the "bait" of the low price?  They simply oversell until you fill compelled to purchase, after all here they are now in your home and you feel embarrassed and do want your carpets cleaned - or do you?!  Not at this suddenly inflated price!

What you can do -
It is your home after all and you have the right to say no.
Tell the company you will not hesitate to report them, then make sure you do.  Contact Trading standards.

Then make sure you contact a reputable carpet cleaning company.  I am sure all honest carpet cleaning companies, there are many, will be happy to read this advice.

Please note this is advice only and many carpet cleaning companies operate in a genuine fashion.  Enjoy your carpet cleaning from a professional carpet cleaning company.

In house carpet cleaning training?

In house carpet cleaning training -

If you see any company advertising 'in house carpet cleaning' here are a few questions worth considering -

Who trained the carpet cleaner?
Was this person qualified in aspects of carpet and upholstery cleaning?
Is the qualification recognised within the industry (such as the NCCA qualification)?

There are many skilled carpet cleaners; however our understanding is that not every carpet cleaner or carpet cleaning company in Devon is qualified in this area of work or indeed perhaps other areas of the country.
As a consumer it is worth considering this and asking yourself if you want your carpet cleaned by a skilled and qualified carpet cleaning company?
For some a cheap price may be the ideal answer, however would it still be cheap if your carpet was damaged or you needed to request the service of your insurance company?  Our advice is to seek a qualified Devon carpet cleaning company.  The choice is of course your own to make.

Cleaning Tip: Choose the right company for you.
